Artist of the Month: Dolly Parton

Born in January 1946 in Pittman Center, Tennessee, Dolly Parton grew up in a humble home with eight siblings. Her musical career began early, with TV appearances at age 12 and her Grand Ole Opry debut at 13.

Dolly moved to Nashville in 1964, married Carl Dean in 1966, and joined Porter Wagoner’s show in 1967. After seven successful years, she launched her solo career, quickly becoming a country music icon.

Beyond her music, Dolly starred in films, created Dollywood in 1986, and built an empire worth millions. Today, her net worth is estimated at $450 million, an inspiring journey from her modest beginnings on a tobacco farm.
