As we gather with friends and family this Thanksgiving, we at the Cornhusker Country Music Theater want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our members, performers, and supporters. Your dedication and passion for country music keep our doors open and our community thriving.

Attendance & Support

We need your support! Attendance has been low, and expenses are exceeding our income. Without your help, we may not be able to continue offering live music and events.

Call for Performers

We’re always seeking bands, duos, and solo acts to perform. If you or someone you know would like to donate an evening of music, please reach out! Backup musicians are available if needed.

Meeting Highlights (11/19/24)

  • Financial Report:
    General Fund: $4,278.18
    Building Fund: $4,848.71
  • Old Business:
    • Advertising in the Cassgram is ongoing.
    • Fundraiser ideas like branded koozies are under consideration.
    • Bingo was deemed infeasible due to minimal returns and heavy red tape.
    • The building was confirmed to have been constructed in 1940. Further details from the State Historical Society are pending.
    • Grace checked into an accounting program which turned out to be not feasible for the club cost wise. Grace has an Excel spread sheet made up for accounting purposes.
  • New Business:
    • We’re exploring adding the theater to state information signs. Addie will investigate the process.
    • Caleb Long and the Ragtag Rascals are hosting a FREE Christmas Show on Saturday, December 14th, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the theater. Special thanks to Judy and Larry Meyer for donating candy canes and candy bars for the event!
    • The theater will be open during Louisville’s Annual Sip & Shop on December 8.

December Events

Sunday, December 8: Electric Jam Session & Quarterly Membership Meeting

  • Quarterly Membership Meeting: 12:30 PM at the theater.
  • Electric Jam Session: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
    Bring your instruments, amps, and voice for a fun and casual jam session.

Saturday, December 14: Ragtag Rascals Christmas Show

  • Time: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
  • Admission: FREE
  • Enjoy candy canes and candy bars for the kids, children’s sing-along songs, and a cheerful holiday atmosphere.
  • The concession stand will be open for refreshments.
    Bring your family and friends for a joyful afternoon of Christmas fun!

Sunday, December 29: Acoustic Jam Session

  • Time: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
    Bring your acoustic instruments to play, sing along, or simply listen and enjoy the music.

Artist of the Month: Red Foley

Clyde “Red” Foley, born in 1910 near Blue Lick, Kentucky, grew up in a musical family and began performing at age 9. A versatile artist, Red Foley made a lasting impact on country music, earning numerous awards and becoming a lifetime member of the Grand Ole Opry. He’s also credited with discovering Brenda Lee, another country music legend.

Red Foley passed away in 1968, but his contributions to the genre remain timeless.
