Calling All Bands & Musicians

We are always looking for bands, duos, and solo acts to perform. If you know musicians willing to donate their time, please encourage them to reach out. We can even provide backup music if needed.

Meeting Highlights – February 22, 2025

Board Members Present: Kirk Kubik, Grace Kubik, Larry Meyer, Addie Idler

Treasurer’s Report:

  • General Fund (as of Jan 31st): $3,788.06
  • Building Fund (as of Jan 31st): $5,063.71 (amended to $4,919.71)

Old Business:

  • Gas Supplier Inquiry: Larry will contact Black Hills Energy to confirm our actual gas supplier.
  • Terry Smith Tribute Show: Scheduled for April 12, 2025.
  • Cass County Visitors Guide: Already printed and distributed. Next year, we’ll ensure our website is included in the ad.

New Business:

  • Sunday Afternoon Shows? Some members have suggested moving shows to Sunday afternoons since many prefer not to drive after dark. Let us what you think via our “Contact Us” form. We will also check if bands are willing to play earlier.
  • Sponsorships for Roof Fund: Addie will send letters to potential sponsors for roof repair donations.
  • Roof Fundraising Update:
    • A thermometer tracker is at the front of the stage to track our fundraising progress.
    • We currently have $2,500 in the fund.
    • The initial goal is $18,000, but prices are likely to increase over time.
  • Grant Opportunities: We will reach out to Leibman Financial in Louisville for help with grant applications to support the roofing project.

Artist of the Month – Hank Thompson

Hank Thompson (1925 – 2007) was a country music legend whose career spanned seven decades. Known for his honky-tonk western swing style, he led the Brazos Valley Boys, a band that was voted Billboard’s Top Country & Western Band for 14 years straight.

  • Served in WWII as a radioman before pursuing music.
  • Released countless hits, influencing generations of country artists.
  • Passed away in 2007 at age 82 due to lung cancer.
