Artist of the Month: Buck Owens
Buck Owens was born in Sherman, Texas, in August 1929 and passed away in March 2006, reportedly from a heart attack.
He was the frontman of Buck Owens and the Buckaroos, famous for creating the Bakersfield Sound—a twangy, electric guitar-driven style of country music.
His musical partner and close friend, Don Rich, contributed lead vocals and harmonies until his tragic death in 1974.
Buck made Bakersfield, California his home, and his music left a lasting mark on country music history.
